While we might not quite be ready for summer and the warm weather to be over, there’s one thing that always makes us look forward to Fall.  Harvest time brings some incredible flavors that give us the warm fuzzies just thinking about it!

Now that much of the fresh fruit of summer is on its way out, are you thinking smoothie season is over?  Not so!   There are plenty of incredible fall flavors that make amazing smoothies that taste like dessert.  Only they’re much healthier than dessert!  These are perfect if you’re looking to get more protein, fruits or greens in your diet, and they’re also great for tricking the kids into eating healthy!  Make your kiddos a smoothie before school or pack it into the thermos for lunch!

fitness goalsIt’s the Tuesday after Labor Day, and we’re back to work and back to ‘normal’ life after a great long weekend. The LAST long weekend of summer! Sigh…

Many women choose the day after Labor Day to renew their fitness and diet goals. It’s actually one of three dates during the year that women make fitness ‘resolutions’. After Labor Day, immediately following New Years and usually around the first of May, many of us tell ourselves we’re going to get back to the gym and tighten up our diets in order to ‘make up for’ diet excesses and less-than-regular gym attendance over the previous months.

Does this sound familiar? If so, you’re probably still hanging on to the same old yo-yo diet tendencies, and you’ve probably been trying to end this cycle for years. active vacationWhen we think of vacation, many of us think about kicking back, relaxing, eating whatever we please and laying by the pool with piña colada in hand.  Sounds pretty fabulous, but it can be a recipe for packing on the pounds and falling out of good habits!  For those of us with kids, the only vacation we might know is an action and calorie-packed few days at Disney!

If the above describe your idea of a vacay, it may be time to reevaluate.  An active vacation can leave you feeling even more relaxed, refreshed, focused and healthy when you return to your normal routine.

hotel room workoutHope you enjoyed Part 1: Upper Body and Part 2: Lower Body of this 3-part “Exercise on the Road” blog series.  As I’m sure you’ve experienced, it can be tough getting your workouts in when you’re traveling.  There’s little time, you’re missing your usual equipment, and in a hotel room there’s just not much space!  We’ve designed three workouts for you that you can switch off during your trip that require almost no equipment (just an exercise band for upper body) and very little space at all!  Doing these quick travel workouts will help to ensure you don’t get out of shape or out of the habit while you’re away from home!

It’s super important to keep up with your workout routine when you’re on the road.  It helps you avoid getting sick, improves your energy levels, encourages good eating habits and prevents losses in strength that can occur if you go for several days without working out.  It also helps you keep from gaining weight since you’ll still be getting that calorie burn!

So, pick a spot on your hotel room floor and get ready for this core challenge!
